John Bell has long been recognized as one of the leading lawyers in Education Law in Ontario.

For over forty years, John has represented members of the Education Community in areas covering the full spectrum of Education Law including, but not limited to: Governance, Human Rights, Employment, Student Discipline, Conflict of Interest, Contract, Constitution, Privacy and Freedom of Information, Duties and Powers of Educators, Municipal and Planning, and Amalgamation.
John will be posting commentary on important issues as they arise.

John’s clients have included: School Boards, Ontario Public School Boards Association, Supervisory Officer and Director of Education Associations, Standing Committees of the Legislature of Ontario (Ombudsman, Public Accounts), Ontario Human Rights Commission and the Ministry of Education.

John has lectured and spoken to virtually all of the organizations and associations existing within the pre College and University Education communities.

John’s contributions to the Education Community include: Founding Director and first President of the Canadian Association for the Practical Study of Law and Education (CAPSLE); Founding Co-Chair of the Education Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association, Ontario; Founding and continuing Director of the Toronto Education Opportunity Fund (TEOF); Director of the Toronto Foundation For Student Success (TFSS).

John’s community service includes: past Director and President of the St. Andrews Ratepayers Association and Past Director of Goodwill Industries of Toronto, Eastern, Central and Northern Ontario.
